Empowering Postdoctoral Fellows to Thrive at Michigan

Launched during the winter 2024 term, the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) serves as a hub to support postdoctoral fellows across the university. OPA not only supports postdoctoral fellows as they prepare for their future careers, but it also guides and advises departments and programs about best-practice policies, processes, and services related to the employment and well-being of postdoctoral fellows.

The office is supported jointly by Rackham Graduate School and the Office of the Vice President for Research. Services offered throught OPA include orientations for new postdocs, professional development and career counseling, policy implementation and oversight, emergency funding, and conflict resolution.

Postdoctoral Certificates of Completion

Per U-M’s Standard Practice Guide 201.19, recognition of postdoctoral training will be issued to a Postdoctoral Research Fellow upon successful completion of the program. The responsibility for issuing certificates has been assigned to the Rackham Graduate School, upon verification of the completed training.

After verification that the postdoctoral fellow has successfully completed the training requirements, an electronic copy of the certificate will be emailed directly to the postdoctoral fellow. Certificates are created and emailed on a weekly basis depending upon receipt of the required verification.

Please contact rackpostdoccertificates@umich.edu if you have any questions regarding these certificates, including a status update, to request a correction, or request for a physical copy to be mailed.
